Distributing Your Sound

Distributing DJ Mixes

This is where you can really put yourself about; first make sure you have an account on the social networking websites I mentioned in the DJ Promotion Article. They are all free to sign up and create profiles on, as soon as you sign up on these Social Networks start adding people who you know and friends of theirs to build your network quickly. Twitter is different as this is a website where you follow people (sounds insane I know).

Follow people you are into for whatever reasons music, films, authors, whatever, it’s full of famous people who are being followed by millions. The advantage of distributing your music in mp3 format is it's ready to be loaded straight onto an iPhone, iPod, iPad or even just a normal mp3 player. If that wasn't enough the people downloading your mix can also burn it directly to CD providing it is under 80 minutes in length.

Don’t abuse it and follow everyone in the hope they will follow you in return it doesn’t work like that use it properly and you will get followers. Start posting the links to your mixes on these social networking websites for your friends/followers to see and you can even link all the accounts together so you post it say via Twitter and then it goes onto the MySpace status & Facebook wall etc. YouTube is a video site where you can post videos of you mixing or scratching or even just convert mp3’s into video files to upload.
